Hello friends,
Have you ever felt like you were in a cold or dark season even when you were walking in obedience to the Lord? Me too. Those moments are hard to understand.
A passage of scripture for us to look at today is found in Acts:
“About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the jail were shaken, and immediately all the doors were opened, and everyone’s chains came loose. When the jailer woke up and saw the doors of the prison standing open, he drew his sword and was going to kill himself, since he thought the prisoners had escaped. But Paul called out in a loud voice, “Don’t harm yourself, because we’re all here!” The jailer called for lights, rushed in, and fell down trembling before Paul and Silas. He escorted them out and said, ‘Sirs, what must I do to be saved?’” (Acts 16:25-30 CSB).
The backstory context to this passage is that Paul and Silas ended up in prison for casting a demon out of a slave girl (Acts 16:18). Their obedience to God actually led them into the darkness of prison.
What we see pour out of Paul and Silas’ hearts, was a reflection of what was already in there. Praise and worship to God. The things we are planting into our hearts right now, will be ready for harvest when life runs dry.
From their praise, came a man ready to repent. Sometimes God has you in your dark moments, for the praise of God to reach the ears of someone else.
If you have a prayer request or praise, please let us know so that we can be united in prayer with you!
We never know why we end up in the seasons or places we do, but one thing remains…God never fails! Stay obedient to Him, and let your praise be an overflow of the heart today!
Blessings,
Pastor Matt
